An artist shaped by decades of change
Every collection reflects an approach that's been refined through decades of creativity rather than following passing trends. At Michael Potter Studio, we believe great artwork should bring lasting character to a space, whether it's a bold centrepiece or a subtle finishing touch.
Our collections are designed to complement both contemporary and traditional interiors, giving homes, workplaces, and commercial settings original pieces that feel considered and timeless. With a focus on quality, craftsmanship, and artistic authenticity, we create artwork that's made to be enjoyed for years to come.
A career that didn't stand still
Credibility that reaches beyond the studio
Professional printing technique
From fine art training to international recognition
Michael Potter's artistic journey spans more than 50 years, shaped by formal training, commercial illustration, and international exhibitions. After studying Renaissance art in Florence in 1969, he continued his education at Ealing Art College in London, where he developed the drawing, painting, and photography skills that would define his career. Alongside seasonal work as a travel photographer, Michael produced detailed illustrations for magazines and newspapers, mastering the precision demanded by technical pen drawings.
His curiosity later led him to screen printing, where he embraced the bold, graphic style that became a hallmark of his early work. By the early 1980s, he was producing limited-edition prints and watercolours for Christie's Contemporary Art, exhibiting in both London and New York. His work was subsequently commissioned for international exhibitions across Los Angeles, Tokyo, Paris, and beyond, while private collectors, hotels, and commercial clients commissioned original artwork throughout the UK and overseas.

A creative evolution in print, painting and photography
Throughout his career, Michael has continually explored new artistic directions while remaining committed to craftsmanship and originality. His portfolio includes representational line drawings, vibrant screen prints, architectural watercolours, abstract colourscapes, and, more recently, limited-edition photographic prints. Every collection reflects a willingness to evolve while maintaining a distinctive artistic voice. Following decades of painting and printmaking, Michael returned to photography as digital technology opened new creative possibilities.
Drawing on his original photographic training, he began creating carefully curated image collections for Atelier Editions Limited, specialising in large-format, limited-edition prints. Today, Michael Potter Studio brings together this remarkable archive of original work, offering framed and unframed prints, limited editions released in small runs, and bespoke artwork enquiries. Subscribers receive advance access to new limited-edition releases before they become available to the public.
